Re: Would you buy ..... ???
I'm all for keeping a cheap "beater" gun in the car, but I'll second what others have said: you should get a lockbox if you'll be leaving it unattended for extended periods of time. The other obvious complication is trying to balance cost and reliability. I've never shot a Hi-Point, but my...

Re: How well would a firearm like the M4 perform in outer sp
This discussion has officially passed the threshold of conversations that I can meaningfully participate in on my phone during quick breaks at work, so I'll limit my response to the following for right now: I don't think the M4 would be classified as a black body. Great discussion. Let's talk about...

Re: How well would a firearm like the M4 perform in outer sp
As far as the effectiveness of lubricants in space, I have an anecdotal but I'm-pretty-sure-it's-true story to offer. As some of you know, my family was part of the Caltech/JPL community. My parents were professors there, and my father in law was a JPL engineer who designed and built guidance packa...

Re: How well would a firearm like the M4 perform in outer sp
Yeah, this is one of those things that people who know nothing about guns or space don't think about, people who know a decent amount about both think correctly about, and that people who know a little bit about both think incorrectly about. Of course, just making sure the cartridge propellant burns...

Multigun Match to Benefit West, TX EMS - June 8-9
Ran across this the other day and figured I'd throw it out there in case anyone was interested. Since the EMS agency in West suffered significant damage to their facilities and equipment in the plant explosion a while back, wheels have started turning for fundraising efforts to help them recover; th...

Re: Air rifles....
I had considered the effect of going supersonic. I note that the Gamo videos don't claim that the suppressed gun is silent. They claim that game can't detect where it's coming from........which is pretty much exactly what happens with a suppressed AR15 or AR10. It's quieter for the shooter, and the...

Re: Air rifles....
The big question for me is velocity. These .17 caliber pellets don't weigh bupkis, so it takes velocity to make them into a serious killing gun. That's why I'm not so much interested in a 1,000 fps rifle, when for $100 to $150 more I can get a 1,400 fps rifle. But am I obsessing too much about it i...

Re: Sick and tired!!!
BTW ammo is available online - if you want to pay 2 or 3x what it was prior to Newtown - no thanks. I wonder how long this will last? I am starting to think 1 year or more. It's possible that I'm being foolishly (and uncharacteristically) optimistic here, but I do think that we're starting to turn ...

Training with Air Guns
Not sure this is the right section for this, since it's a pretty random question. Anyway, I've managed to scare up some ammo recently, but it's still not enough to shoot in any volume (especially vexing, since this was going to be the year that I got more serious about IDPA and started shooting 3-gu...

Entertaining Texas Gun Trader Post
Thought about posting this in the Price-Gouging thread ($2,150 seems a little steep...), but eventually decided it warranted a new thread.

Nice to see at least some people are keeping a sense of humor among all of the panicking.

Re: Where to Buy 9MM now?
The Interwebs have at least some. LuckyGunner is out, but things seem to be trickling back in on Ammoman. After watching 8 cases of 9 evaporate while I was trying to order some yesterday, I noticed some more in stock today and bought some. Might want to jump on it now, they're going pretty quick.

Re: Ammoman has ammo in stock again
I might have to pick some of that up - I just realized I'm running pretty low on 9mm. FYI, those of you who (like me) were stupid enough to let your stockpiles run low might want to jump on this pretty quick - every other seller that I've looked at is backordered, and things are going fast. LuckyGun...

Re: Response from Congressman Olson
Nice to know that he has the right idea, even if that is explained in a generic, soundbyte-friendly form letter. I don't agree with him on everything, but I still voted for him in every election between his first run and the time I moved out of his district (he was the closest match to my own politi...

Re: Obviously not a good time to shop for guns
No. No, it is not a good time to shop for guns. I already own one EBR, and while I figured that I'd eventually want at least one more, I told myself that I wasn't going to be a sucker and get caught up in the panic-buying after the election. With all of this recent foolishness, I had almost convince...
