Re: Major advancements for Texas CHL holders
No class. Just complete the renewal application and send in your money. I see that I'm in the minority here, but I actually really really don't like HB 48 passing. I don't believe that people will actually read the form and study the new laws. They might not remember anything from the class either,...

Re: OIS today in Austin - bloggers already at it
If I read this correct you feel he should have then shot the LEO? That is absurd. No, unholstering his weapon and pointing it at the LEO was absurd. Once he made that choice, pulling the trigger would have been perfectly rational. Not pulling the trigger is actually the odd part of the whole thing....

Re: OIS today in Austin - bloggers already at it
Ok, so now we are advocating killing an LEO who has done nothing wrong, illegal, or immoral? I am shocked some cops have an "us vs them" mentality... I think it is crystal clear that I was opposing that notion. Agreed? Yeah - my response wasn't from your comments. Was it to mine? I was si...

Re: OIS today in Austin - bloggers already at it
It sounds like the deceased made a very poor decision to pull his weapon and not pull the trigger. Sounds to me like pulling the weapon was a poor decision. Pulling the trigger on the LEO would have been a worse decision. I actually have to disagree with this. Once he already made the clearly bad d...

Re: Alvin: Man killed going to assistance of neighbor
This is a very sad story. I have a lot of respect for him for attempting to help. In fact, he could have still helped by ruining their plans and forcing them to leave early. In a situation like this, I'd try to put the engine block between me and the BGs. It's probably the only part of my car that w...

Trading 40S&W for 22LR, 45ACP or 308
Title says it all. I've got 9 boxes of Winchester range ammo, 450 rounds. I'll be up front and say that I won't accept any trades that value their ammo at the currently inflated prices. Or in other words, I will not give you all 9 boxes for 2 federal bulk packs. If anyone wants to make what I feel i...

@XinTX I'll shoot you a PM. And I probably won't be shooting it very much until it's fixed. The narrower magwell, than my witness that is, feels odd in my hands anyway. Correct - recoil would cause it to flop around and catch the slide. Ok, ignoring the crazy lady with a hammer *takes deep breath*....

Re: You'll Love What DPS in Palo Pinto County is Doing!!
I was under the assumption that these types of actions would require a warrant. Being disarmed for safety isn't like when they impound your car after an arrest.

Re: Open Carry poll by your county population
I thought TPC 46.035 stated places that were off limit to CHL holders like bars, amusement parks, correctional facilities, etc. That's why I don't understand the need to repeal it first before open carry. I can tell you right now, TDCJ will NEVER allow open carry on their property. § 46.035. UNLAWF...

Re: Open Carry poll by your county population
So where do we stand on the first step and why MUST TPC 46.035 be repelled first? Repealing TPC 46.035 would effectively created licensed open carry. You wouldn't be able to violate any of the laws that specifically specify exceptions for "concealed" handguns though. The clean-up he's pro...

Suggestions for fixing up a used 1911
Over the Thanksgiving break I acquired this Springfield 1911-A1 from my neighbour's sister for $300. Date under the right grip panel says it was manufactured in 2006 and I believe it's a Mil-Spec. It belonged to her deceased husband and then her before passing into my hands. Unfortunately, she wasn'...

Man... does the owner have to say "Assault Rifle"? Not only is it the incorrect term, but it's just bad press.

Re: for those who have trouble racking a slide
( I only have 1 hand, and my 1 hand has arthritis .. so I rack with my other forearm/wrist usually.... or belt/shoe/pants pocket/edge of a building/table/dumpster etc etc so those extra devices I don't carry with me concealed still seem useless for me,in that it requires 2 hands and I'd have to run...
