Re: Instructor Certification expiring...

I'm running into the same thing but for a different reason. I am coming back from active duty status and training for my civilian job now. I just received the email for the available classes and I am in training everyone of those days. I'm calling DPS right now and on hold waiting to hear a response...

Re: To "LLC" or not to "LLC" ???

I was advised by my lawyer that LLC's only apply if you have employee's. Short of employee's, it does absolutely nothing. He used the bread truck example...must be something they teach in law school. I asked him about protection if a student shoots another student and once again he said it would do ...

Re: Question regarding classtimes

There is no way that this is going to be an issue. Come Sept 1, everyone is going to be on the short course and they are not going to penalize individuals that signed up for it prior to that date. There is no way that we as instructors know, and EVERYONE will be teaching the short course

Re: Can You Shoot to Protect Property in TEXAS

Resurrecting a dead post... This is how I teach it to my students, so let me know what you think. You have to first define what you are talking about. Burglary is stealing from inside your home. It is a greater offense than theft, so its considered burglary. Example: If I have a potted (not pot!) pl...

Re: Close call with Glock

Lets be fair here...its not Glocks, its striker fired pistols with no external safety. It should never be a race to reholster a gun. It should be done reluctantly. I've been carrying striker fired pistols appendix carry for years, and advocate it to my students when they are competent and familiar. ...

Forming LLC's

All the CHL instructors I know have recommended forming LLC's that you work under for protection against idiot students. I was wondering what you guys think about doing that, have you done it, and if so, who did you use to do it. Thanks in advance

Been out of it for awhile

I went on deployment and have been gone for awhile. When I go to my saved links for the instructor site it tells me that this page is no longer available. I'm having a tough time getting into the site and cannot find the log on page. I guess some of this changed while I was gone. Any help would be a...

Re: Qualifying with laser

You don't see them in competition because they are not allowed. I used to think like you, and I still only run irons, but they do give the shooter a huge advantage. Get a set, do some serious training with them for a month, and you too will be a believer.

Re: Tell me where I was in the wrong...

Your first problem was going to carters Country. Your second problem was buying something from them. If you don't agree with their policies and procedures, go somewhere else. And yes, you have been warned so the next time could be trespass. Sorry for the rant, they are not on my favorites list.

Re: Reloading Fire/Explosion in Dallas

I would suspect that the fire started in one of the vehicles in the garage. They said casings were found all over the garage so it sounds like loaded rounds cooking off were the "explosions". If there was any black powder or pyrodex involved that could have come off LIKE an explosion to s...

Re: Powder for 5.56 that meters well

H335 is one of the best powders for 5.56 ever developed. It's a dream to measure. This evening I was loading some 5.56 on a Dillon 550 and about every 100 rounds I'll drop 4 measures into a cup and weigh, just to be sure the measure is correct. I'm loading 25.0 gr of H335, and if I remember correct...

Re: Dillon 650XL or 550B

We have the strong mount stand on our 650. We mounted it on a 2x10 cut to the width of the bench and mount it with vice clamps on the four corners. When we are done... unclamp it and move the whole unit on to the shelf. Works like a charm and free up space in the shop for woodworking projects.

I'll second the H335. Good stuff, works great for various rounds, and meters well
