For those that still doubt this, go compare the shotgun and rifle stocks and wood to others. They typically use cosmetically lesser wood.

You statement that WalMart doesn't carry top of the line guns is not true. They do market lower end models as well as exclusive model firearms, but they also sell top of the line weapons, as R2C stated SIG-Saurer AR's, Colt AR's etc. The WalMart in Burleson, TX had a Remington 700BDL 30-06 in their case when I was there last summer. That's a $1000 rifle retail, definitely on the higher end of Remingtons 700 series. Their price was about 650 bucks. On the other end my local Wally World has Remington 770's with scope for $240, choice of calibers - 7mm-08Rem, .270 Win and .243 Win

You have already been given examples... Colt LE6920 for one. I can special order a Remington 700 BDL with walnut stock from the book at Walmart. I special ordered my son's rifle because I wanted a different stock than the one that was available in the showcase.

I think you are the one who is confused about the OP about firearms. I have purchased both a Colt and a Weatherby from wal mart and they are identical to the guns that the manufacture lists on the website. Unless you have some sort of proof that Wal-Mart is engaging in deceptive practices like selling a Colt LE6920 as new when it is actually a "second", I would stop engaging in the rumor mill.

I have yet to see anyone provide any proof only speculation.

As stated in my post Walmart has special models made by manufacturers for their price point, have fewer features and utility wood stocks such as birch wood or even laminated. I know for sure Marlin made a model 336 for Wal Mart that was specifically marketed by them. I bought a Marlin Model 60 (made before Remington/Freedom Arms took over Marlin) that had a unique Model number not listed in the regular Marlin catalog.
