Accepted and appreciated. I am only trying to find hope where ever I can under the sun.gljjt wrote:We are on the same team. I see now how my comment came across. My apologies. It was not directed at you. My intent was to say, as you did, nothing is 100%. Sotomayor garnered 9 Republican votes and Kagan got 5. Neither would have been confirmed without Republican help. The Dems had the majority in the Senate for both, but not Dem enough votes to confirm.mojo84 wrote:I can't remember, who had the majority in the Senate at the time they were confirmed?gljjt wrote:And that prevented Sotomayor and Kagan from being confirmed?mojo84 wrote:
Let's keep in mind, Supreme Court appointees must be confirmed by the Senate.
Also, are we adversaries or on the same team?
Hopefully, we can shore up the down ticket positions and that will sustain us until a truly strong conservative leader can be elected.
By the way, I am watching a Boenhoffer movie at this very moment. He is an admirable person. We need more like him.

In other words, are people playing offense or defense? I'm playing defense.

Re: Republican Convention: Cruz supporters planning trouble?
How about we all vote or don't vote and stop insulting and insinuating those with differing opinions are of lesser intelligence or lower character.
We didn't get in this predicament over night. It happened on our watch. The infighting and insults by insinuation are detrimental.
Let's keep in mind, Supreme Court appointees must be confirmed by the Senate.

Re: Republican Convention: Cruz supporters planning trouble?
I was and am a Cruz supporter. In fact, Trump was way down my list of He even appeared on it at all. However, I do not support the continued bickering from both sides, for and against Trump. The bickering and hateful rhetoric is furthering the divisiveness in the republican party.
With that said, this analogy comes to mind. Is it better to play Russian roulette with a fully loaded revolver or on partially loaded? Whether we like it or not, our country is playing Russian roulette. We, as voters, need to decide which version of Russian roulette gives us the best chance of survival.
I think the answer is obvious.

Re: Republican Convention: Cruz supporters planning trouble?
If the organization is in chaos and is self destructing, it's usually due to poor leadership. Poor leaders never accept the responsibility but blame the ones they are leading. The republican party is a prime example.
Andy Stanley says, if his organization doesn't meet its goals, then he must not have led well enough for them to achieve the goals. You'll almost never hear a politician say such.

Re: Republican Convention: Cruz supporters planning trouble?
This all shows how divided and fractured the republican party is. This divisiveness has been festering for a long time. It now may be coming to a head and it will end up benefitting Clinton and the progressives.
Just like when it comes to many discussions regarding second amendment, everyone takes a hardline stand and all other opinions are flat wrong. Then it dengrates to the other point of view makes the other an enemy.
Our country and the republicans are divided and divided we fall.

Police scanner is now revealing there are "heated" arguments on the convention floor.

Re: Republican Convention: Cruz supporters planning trouble?
Speaking of banana republic, on top of that there is a powder keg about to blow outside the convention center. Protesters are getting chippy.
