IIrc, the local y shops on the open market for its insurance coverage. When I worked there 15 us ago, the y was a bottoms up organization where the local board was in ultimate control on most issues. If they lose enough members, they might start shopping.

The YMCA has become one of the most liberal institutions in America. They stopped keeping score in youth sports, they quit using the term Indian Guides, they have taken the "C" out of their signage and print materials, and now this.

It's sad...I have a YMCA Sr. Director certification and spent a lot of time in that business early in my professional career. I hate to see a great organization succumb to political correctness and Chicago politics.
