I believe only if the officer starts to directly deal with you or ask for your ID. You don't need to volunteer it if the LEO is only interacting with the driver.

Sorry it was one of "those types" who pulled you over. I hope I never one into one of those types again. Back in CA I got pulled over when I was 17 for "driving recklessly" (I swerved to avoid someone who pulled in front of me :roll: ). Officer berated me for driving like an idiot and told me to "quite "F-ing" around on his streets and take it to the freeways" (and then let me go without a ticket). Some cops just get nervous or power tripped or whatever... makes for a really bad experience for all involved.
