A typical red dot sight has a dot that is one or more minutes of angle in size, not suitable for precision target shooting but fine for hogs and vermin (including two legged) but very few of them are suitable to beer budgets. Dots are much easier to see than traditional sights, and the holographic ones, being projected a virtual infinity, means not having to worry about parallax and collimation.
