I have a Gen3 Glock 19 and and Gen 4 Glock 26. I had the 19 first and think it's a great gun, but I'm a small guy (5' 5", 170 lbs.) so it's more difficult for me to conceal. I also wanted a 2nd backup gun anyway, so I recently bought the 26.

The Gen 4 G26 is not quite as comfortable to shoot as my 19 or when using the Pearce grip extension, but no less manageable and I feel my accuracy and confidence with either gun is about the same. I have small hands and use no add-on backstraps with the Gen 4 G26 and can get about half my pinky on the grip. When I looked at the Gen 3 G26, I didn't like the fatter grip feel in my hand. The grip length on the G26 with a Pearce +1 extension is almost as long as the G19 at the front where your pinky rests, but it's angled upward at the rear so still has a smaller footprint than the G19. Both feel very similar in weight, especially when using the 15rd mag in the G26.

I find the dual recoil spring in my 26 requires a little more pimp hand to rack the slide than the single spring in my 19, which surprised me the first time at the range, but is not really an issue. I was also surprised at how easy it was to shoot and how similar it felt to my 19. I was expecting it to be harder to control due to the shorter barrel and grip. The only negative is that the short grip with the stock 10rd mag is more difficult to draw (IWB holster) since there's less gun sticking out of my pants to grab.

Regarding concealment with the G26, the 1/2" shorter barrel makes a difference too, but the big plus is choice - I can carry it with the 11rd Pearce extended mag or the stock 10rd depending on the needs of the situation and it will accept the larger 15rd or 17rd mags I have as reloads. I'd say rent both and see which one you like better at the range, or just get both. ;)
