Welcome to the club, good to see you around!
Howdy, Morgan.

Didn't know you roamed these forums too.

You going to make ECR? I'm not competing, but might stop by Saturday night if hell-month ends soon enough.

Re: After 4 weeks, still waiting on fingerprints

Update:

Plastic arrived today.

65 days from Application to Plastic in hand.

34 days of that was used in electronically transfering my fingerprints from L1 to TDPS.
Must be a 3 baud modem.

13 days of that was pony express delivery from Austin to Granbury.
Must use donkeys.

bluejay71 wrote:I don't get why everyone is giving you such grief. There was obviously a problem.

You had fingerprints taken. L1 says (and confirms) they were sent. The state says your application is missing fingerprints. That's a problem and not one that requires patience hoping something will magically happen.

Now, if it was stuck in the background check phase or some other spot where it was in a pile on someone's desk, that is a different story. Good for you for doing what you had to do to MAKE someone care. Glad you finally got your plastic!

Now, if only these state workers could be in charge of our healthcare. Wouldn't that be GREAT! :biggrinjester:
Thanks and me neither.

The funny thing is that if I HAD waited, the clock ran out and posted those data points, an equal number of folks would have dog piled telling me I was stupid and should have contacted some one.

doc.lonestar wrote:Fingers crossed for you that it all works out now. Not to beat a dead horse - but I'm going to just because.... I remember back in the day when 3-4 months was a good turn around time lol.

I know it is hard to laugh about it but someday you will (only because its on the way).

Please keep us updated on the issue.

Be safe,
Doc
I remember those days as many around me had gone through that process.
And to be honest, I was prepared for a two-three month wait.

But like I said many times, when I saw 30 day or less turn-around times, it threw up a red flag.

And like anything, people will abuse this avenue. But who is to blame, really?
Me for posting what I did? Or the process failing making all this drama necessary?

Its easy to blame me because the process is difficult to fix.

Re: After 4 weeks, still waiting on fingerprints

Thanks for the C&P. And I guess we have differing interpretations of what "within 60 days" means.

For me, that says if you approach 60 days and have no background issues, then something is wrong.
For me, when I see 30 day trends and I'm on the other side of that, then something is wrong.

When I noted no change in status for 30 days, after confirming that I and outside agencies had fulfilled our obligations, I made inquiries and sure enough ... something was wrong.
Had I waited 61 days and based upon the time spent making those inquiries started the process, the 90 day clock would have run out and I risked losing my application fee.

And I rationalize it two ways ... and sleep very well at night ...

The guys running the state work for me. I pay them every couple of years with my vote.
And two, having to pay $140 to exercise my constitutional right is a slap in the face.

So yes, getting substandard customer service from people I employ and paying for my constitutional rights makes me a little anxious.

Curious where you found that information?
When folks all around me are getting their's in 2-3 weeks and I'm seeing no movement after 5, to me, that's a red flag something is wrong.

And I apologize if I'm in the minority, but those reps and govs don't mind calling me at 1800 while I'm eating dinner asking me to vote for them.
So I'm not feeling the guilt, here.

Re: After 4 weeks, still waiting on fingerprints

Thought I'd give another update.

As of August 10th there is no, zero, zilch movement from where it was on June 25th.
Same status and same response from DPS.

So, I took the advice of ryanr1299 and sent an e-mail to the Governor's office shortly after lunch on the 10th.

I was cordial, laid out the timeline and asked what I could do to get the process off high center.

Before EOB on the 10th, I had a response explaining the issue was forwarded to a DPS Colonel.

0900 the morning of the 11th (today) I received a phone call from DPS explaining that my license was sent to print last night and would be in the mail today.

When queried, the person on the phone explained that there have been isolated glitches in the data transfer between L1, DPS and the FBI. He went on to say that unless these issues are brought to their attention, they won't know about it.

He said when all the avenues are aligned, they are turning around a license in under 3 weeks.

So if you are over four or five weeks in, don't waste any more time.
Contact DPS, give them a chance.
But don't just sit back and wait for the grass to grow or the rock to move.
Be proactive, but be cordial and professional.

Let me type it slower ...

Electronic application was submitted June 19th.
Suplemental package sent on the 20th.
Fingerprints submitted on the 5th.
DPS website update showing everything received on or about the 8th.
That's the 5th of this month right? So he was right when he said your application was complete less than 30 days ago.

OK what am I missing in this conversation.

My app isn't complete.
Everything is at DPS except fingerprints.
FPs were transmitted on the 5th, confirmed by a trace by L1.
DPS has no record of receiving them after almost 4 weeks.

Again, a suggestion on what to do other than contacting DPS is welcome.

Re: After 4 weeks, still waiting on fingerprints

ryanr1299 wrote:I had the exact same issue...the lady at DPS told me they have been having this problem happen quite a bit recently. She said she would request that my profile be refreshed and to check the next day. The next day the fingerprints were green and all was good. Also, if you find you can't get anywhere with DPS, send an email to the Governor's office. I sent a friendly email explaining that I was having a hard time getting traction at DPS with my inquiries, I received a personal response the same day saying they would check with DPS, and a personal response the next day from DPS stating my CHL application was complete. CHL in the mailbox two days later.
Thanks for the feedback. Might be worth an attempt.

All my email and phone conversations have been positive and cordial.

DPS has EVERYTHING except fingerprints and L1's trace shows transmitting them on the 5th.

If you read this thread ...
viewtopic.php?f=7&t=14391" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
It has applicants who submitted after I did and already recieved their plastic.

When I saw that the DPS website awaiting my fingerprints two weeks after I had them done, I began making inquiries.

I suppose you would do something different? I'm open to suggestions ...

Re: After 4 weeks, still waiting on fingerprints

Critical data:

I contacted L1 on or about the 15th and they submitted a trace and confirmed that the fingerprints indeed were transmitted.
I have a TCN#

The CSR at L1 was very helpful and very responsive. He suggested I tell DPS to request a retransmit.
When I suggested that to a DPS CSR, I was told to wait a couple weeks.

I plan on calling DPS once again, early next week and inquire once again.

As a previous comment, I too am concerned because of the 90 day that has been ticking since July 7th, the date on the letter.
I received that letter on the 29th, BTW.

After 4 weeks, still waiting on fingerprints

Completed my CHL class on June 19th.
Submitted my application on-line on June 21st.
Was fingerprinted at L1 in Ft. Worth on July 5th.

I have no background issues and currently hold a "critical staff" security clearance from a Homeland Security institution.

Multiple e-mail has gone unanswered.

Multiple phone calls result in no information and a common answer ... "Give it a couple weeks."

My online status has remained unchanged since June 25th.
"Fingerprints : Not received, notice sent to applicant "

Any suggestions on how to get this application off high center?
