Re: Springfield XDm 45 Compact
If you're a 1911 guy, I'll be interested to see how this compares in terms of accuracy from your perspective....I think you're going to be pleasantly surprised. Hmm - my Kimber TLE II will hold a 3" group at 50yds from sandbags (3.5 lb trigger, standard barrel but refitted to ensure better loc...

Re: CHL, Vehicle and Adult Beverage Question
My bet is that he's had a few beers while off-duty. AND I bet he did NOT disarm prior to doing so. Comparing his drinking ON-DUTY to a CHL'er drinking at dinner is not (IMO) a comparable situation.[/quote] Myabe so - maybe he hasnt. Either way, I'm sure he'd have some questions to answer to if he we...

Re: CHL, Vehicle and Adult Beverage Question
....here's another interesting perspective that my CHL Instructor course leader had to say as a DPS Trooper: "how would you, as a citizen, feel about me, an on-duty Trooper, having a couple of beers at lunch, then responding to your emergency with a gun....", or something to that affect. N...

Re: Springfield XDm 45 Compact
So, I stayed up late surfing last night and placed an order for the XDm Compact. Dunno, it just happened, like I was under someone elses control... (that's my story anyway) Looking forward to playing with it soon. Now, I will freely admit that I am a spoiled 1911 guy and am used to a really nice tr...

Re: Keep It Up People
Got pulled over last week for doing 60 in a 50....just got away from me. It was a Tx DPS Trooper and I maneuvered my front wheels when pulled over as instructed by my brother in law LEO. Trooper's first comment when he approached me on the passenger side was, "so who do you work for?" I po...

Re: Anyone here scheduled for the Jan 2-6 Instructors Class?
Things may be different now but I shot it with a DAO SP101 and the guy next to me had a SA Blackhawk. Neither of us had any difficulty making accurate timed shots, although his reloads were a mite slow. You're not allowed to use reloaded ammunition. In fact, they have a list of acceptable ammunitio...

Re: Anyone here scheduled for the Jan 2-6 Instructors Class?
I think I also read somewhere that revolver shots have to be DA. Is that right?

Re: Anyone here scheduled for the Jan 2-6 Instructors Class?
I'm in....curious if there's a decent gouge about the shooting portion on this forum. My search logic probably wasn't the best, because I haven't found anything yet. The email I received about the shooting qualification got my attention.....I'll admit, I was a bit surprised to see that you had to g...

Re: Plastic Received
Congratulations. I too received mine this week on 7/29. I actually mailed it in only two weeks prior, so my turn around time was faster than expected. I bought a new Gen 4 Glock 23 today with a Galco FBI cant holster and did the walk. I was aware, and a bit uncomfortable that I was printing more th...

Re: Saiga 12 Gunsmith Houston/Northern Areas?
Thanks to all for all the thoughful replies. In no particular order, a few answers to some questions/replies from others: I have only now put about 60 rounds through it, mostly all 00B Ranger Magnum loads. I was aware of the concerns about light stuff, so avoided it. I started out on gas setting #1,...

Re: Plastic Received
.....incidentally, the DPS website still shows my CHL status as "manufacturing". This, two days after I actually received my plastic. I don't know that their system is updated quite as well as I'd hoped.

Saiga 12 Gunsmith Houston/Northern Areas?
Hello All, Bought a converted, snazzy Saiga 12 at the Houston gun show a couple of months ago, and lots of problems with FTE, FTL. I've been on the Saiga forums and have monkeyed with the gas tube settings - no matter....it's still choking on about every 10th shell or so. It could be the clips I'm u...

Re: "Waiting Room"
