Can someone explain how the bond works? Does that mean that they can get out of jail for $5k? Does a bail company base the decision to give the $5k (it is a loan more or less, right) on the crime? Would that mean it is less likely someone will loan them the money to get out?

How do they let this guy out on $2000 bond? He shouldn't be let out at all. Is there someone we can write to about this? Whoever let this person out on bond should lose their job.
