Re: Encouraging girlfriends to not to be sheep
You are only paranoid if nothing happens. But if something does and you are ready, then you were prepared. What a double standard.

Flying United Airlines
You guys are such a wealth of knowledge, and I did do a search before submitting this question. I am flying on United next week and am reading on their website and am somewhat confused. "The firearm must be packaged in a hard-sided container capable of being locked. The container must be locked...

Re: YMCA
Thanks your your replies. About a year ago, they changed their name to "The Y" and made kind of a big deal about it. It didn't occur to me that they were removing the word Christian. In my naivte, I was thinking it was the M...not just for men. It all makes sense, now.

YMCA
When I first got my CHL in September of last year, like everyone else, I started to become more aware of 30.06 signs. The YMCA where we are members has such a sign. I even talked to the head of my branch about it and he said it was an insurance issue from corporate. Since then, though, I've been try...

Re: Recommend an instructor/class in Houston?
We really enjoyed our class through Spectre Firearms at 249/Spring-Cypress. His name was Ryan Doughtry (sp?).

Re: my wife's first adventure
Yay! Another AGAG convert! I was out proselyting at Carter's Country today during cease-fires. Having always gone shooting with my husband, it has been empowering to be able to do it on my own. I don't have a problem with men or doing "coed" events, but some women are intimidated by some m...

Glad I had my EDC...
Nothing happened...this is not going to be an exciting post, but... Coming home from meeting my sister half way between our homes (her in East TX, me in Houston) to swap kids, a car going slowly in the opposite lane crosses into my lane aiming straight for me. I honked and had to pull over to avoid ...

Re: Outed at the Grocery Store
I really like the "answer a question with a question" approach, as mentioned above. With a proper line of questioning, you'd get the original questioner to be asking him-/herself why they weren't carrying themself without ever divulging your carry status! With every report of violent crime...

Re: gave in to purse carry for the next 3 months
Cali, when I had my surgery and couldn't carry IWB they didn't have a flashbang for my gun then, I carried in an ankle holster. Draw is not as quick, but it was much better for me than purse carry. I just flat will not purse carry unless it is my only option. I got my ankle holster from chickholste...

Re: Class of August 2011 reunion
I posted this story in the ladies forum, so in case you don't look there much, I'm telling you guys about it here. We are having a girls night out at Spring Guns and Ammo next Wednesday. I had talked to one girl's husband about if she might want to come with me (he's an avid gun nut). I went to see ...

Re: Another Girls Night Out
I'm so excited about our girls night out at Spring Guns & Ammo on Wednesday 10/26. I'm bringing two others with me! Funny story...I had talked to one girl's husband about if she might want to come with me (he's an avid gun nut). I went to see her today in the company of another lady whose positi...

Glad you finally graduated, Bill. I thought you were going to have an anurysm before it arrived. :biggrinjester: I'm in school and it keeps me too busy to play here very much for the time being. But I've carried everywhere I've gone since the plastic arrived. Mostly my Bodyguard .380. I have a littl...

Re: August 2011 Applications
Hooray for Bill, Arch and Arrow. Things are moving right along! Someone mentioned that once you get the plastic, you forget about all the waiting, or the waiting didn't seem so bad, or something like that. Not having your plastic is like not having your watch on. You just feel incomplete. With the p...

Re: August 2011 Applications
That's great, Arch Stanton! I ran all kinds of errands with the kids: Walmart, Target, Menchie's frozen yogurt...(no adults, so no pics) and no one was the wiser. Even my son, who is always trying to make me when I'm carrying at home, had no clue! Carrying does make you think about things diff...
