Re: FFL West Houston

Used Defensive & Concealed Guns again today for a FFL transfer that I purchased from Bud's. Very friendly people and very good service. Transaction went as smoothly as expected and I will definitely plan to visit their shop again. Thanks guys!

Re: Bad Experience at Top Gun - Houston

Their guns are way overpriced. Did you get them to come down on your purchases? I've never considered buying there because of their prices, so I don't even know if they negotiate at all. Glock 19's for $600 for example... Agreed - I've never gotten past just glancing at their prices because...

Re: Remington UMC Squib

Received a package in the mail yesterday from Remington. A full replacement box (250 round count) of UMC 40 S&W ammo. They also included a letter that said the following: We have reviewed the 187 unfired rounds of Remington L40SW3A ammunition that you returned associated with your report of a bu...

Re: FFL West Houston

Another very happy customer of an FFL transfer at Defensive & Concealed Guns. Mention this forum and they do it for $20, which is the best I have seen in Houston. Also, they couldn't be nicer and make it a very speedy process. They are located near Memorial & Dairy Ashford, which isn't the m...

Re: Backup Pistol for Hog Hunting

Guys, let me assure you, and anyone else here.....a .40 or above will do the trick. "A .40 stunning a hog"??????????? Brother, I can share with you or anyone else first hand, a .40 will kill one cold flat. Every time. If they're small enough, a 9mm will do the trick as well. Now....from 5...

SOLD: Benelli Nova - 12 Gauge $300 (Houston)

DSC00393.JPG I have a Benelli Nova 12-gauge that I would like to sell. It is a 26" barrel, black-synthetic version and will shoot 2.75", 3", and 3.5" shells. I won it at a benefit dinner for the local Delta Waterfowl chapter a couple of years ago and have shot less than 100 roun...

Re: Today's Carter Country Add - 9/29 - 21 to buy AR

This week's ad shows a SD shotgun with the same "Must be 21 years of age to purchase" caveat. I agree with the person that said the Government shouldn't force this on gun shops but it is their choice if THEY choose to implement them. While part of me disagrees with it, I think that's their...

Re: Backup Pistol for Hog Hunting

10 mm is plenty of round for a hog. I would agree with the general statement that it's not readily available, but that's more from a long-term standpoint and has nothing to do with shooting hogs. I would also agree with the "high-capacity" point. If you find yourself in a situation where a...

Re: gun safes surviving fires

The U.L. does not fire rate any residential security cabinets as they do real safes as it is not worth the effort. When a manufacturer states a U.L. fire listing, it is for the material used, not the fire rating of the whole product. Their burn times are either estimated or independently tested. Th...

I have that gun - bought it at Carters Country actually. It is a fantastic gun - never had a problem with it and shoots very well.

Re: Remington UMC Squib

My ammo "yikes" moments have been with Winchester USA (aka white box). My 9mm chambered a round that wouldn't seat or eject. The bullet had been set at an angle before it was seated during manufacturing and bulged the brass so that it stuck in my chamber thus making extraction a hair rais...

Re: Remington UMC Squib

Dropped the rest of the box in the mail on Friday with the prepaid label that Remington shipped me. According to the tracking, it arrived at Remington's factory today. They said they would perform some tests on the remainder and send me a letter explaining what they had found. With that letter is su...
