Now Bears for example are hardly a pest. I just think Bears are such a beautiful majestic animal that really shouldn't be hunted, not to mention they normally don't bother anyone or cause damage to land etc. Now, maybe if we had large numbers of bears equal to our HOG problem here in Texas I'd see it differently.[/quote]

Some bears are nice bears, but some bears are mean bears and will kill you just to look at you.

I have had bears stalk me twice. Once was in the Sierras and the other was outside of Kluane Lake. The one at Kluane lake I never saw. The RCMP stopped by my camp, saw the bear, did not see me, collected my gear so I would come into to town to report it, then waited in town for me to show up. They probably saved my life.

A good friend is a long time Ranger in Yellowstone. He has hunted man killers and has reconstructed several attacks. Some attacks were by sows, others were just for fun.

He says most people who are found after a bear attack have bruising on the bottom of their fists. Think about it.

Bears are extremely dangerous and have to be treated with respect.

I once saw a black bear run straight uphill from 10000 feet to 12000 feet without stopping.

The weapon of choice for bears is a model 870 with slugs.
