Thing is, the State of Texas has the same three branches of government as does the U.S.: the executive, the legislative, and the judicial.

The executive branch in Texas state government is responsible for the administration and enforcement of state law. It consists of statewide elective offices: the governor, lieutenant governor, attorney general, comptroller, and the land, agriculture, and railroad commissioners, and includes most state-run agencies.

The Texas legislative branch enacts all statewide law. Like the federal legislature, the state legislature is comprised of two chambers: the House of Representatives and the Senate. In Texas, this branch also includes several legislative staff agencies and oversight boards.

The two branches are created separate as a check and balance.

So your statement, "I'd be more impressed if he'd actually got behind the two bills that were effectively killed," makes a completely false assumption about how our State government operates. I have no doubt Perry would have signed the bills if they'd reached his desk but, guess what, he had no direct involvement with them getting to his desk...that's the job of the legislative branch of government.

Perry has been extremely favorable--consistently, throughout his term--to laws relating to RKBA. Check his record.
