I've stuck with the Wilson "Elite Tactical" (ETM) models since they first came out several years ago.karder wrote:I use Wilson Combat in my Kimber and Colts. I have had great results with these. A good quality magazine is crucial to reliable operation of any weapon so don't be cheap. Fortunately there are a number of good alternatives for the 1911 crowd. Good luck!
I'm also not a fan of 10-rounders in 1911s and 1911-format pistols, even if they function just fine. The reason is that the extra inch in the length of the magazine significantly changes the "feel" and muscle memory on reloads. Under the effects of an adrenaline dump, I don't want to be slamming in a magazine that's an inch longer than the gun's grip; the extra two rounds aren't worth it to me. I prefer to settle on a magazine and baseplate style, and stick with it so that every magazine feels and performs the same way. Just MHO.
