Pretty ridiculous to focus solely on one object when we should be looking at ALL homicides - unless one has an agenda, of course.
But we also need to note there are no consistent standards for violent crime reporting among countries. As John Lott has often noted, there simply is no way to accurately compare crime stats. And areas in the U.S. that skew our numbers up are areas that strictly regulate firearms, like Chicago, Detroit, Baltimore, D.C., etc.
