Re: Another Home invasion with terrible results!
Finally, Joshua Komisarjevsky has been found guilty.
On Dec. 9, a jury sentenced Mr. Komisarjevsky to death.
Thank Our Blessed God.
Since his conviction in October, Mr. Komisarjevsky’s lawyers have waged an aggressive fight to avoid a capital sentence. But the jury in New Haven unanimously voted for capital punishment on each of the six capital counts he faced.

Komisarjevsky, 31, was found guilty on all 17 counts against him, charges that included murder, burglary, kidnapping, sexual assault and arson. Six of those charges are considered capital offenses, making Komisarjevsky eligible for the death penalty

Re: Another Home invasion with terrible results!
The jury ended up deliberating four days in order to arrive at a unanimous decision about Hayes's sentence, but the jury's recommendation--and rightly so--was a death sentence, given to the judge today.

Re: Another Home invasion with terrible results!
The Petit case was profiled in depth October 8 on NBC's Dateline. The full video isn't posted yet, but this is the link to the current Dateline article: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/39542939/ns ... ns/us_news.
The verdict phase for Hayes begins October 18.
Connecticut is a liberal state when it comes to the death penalty, having executed only one person, a serial killer, since 1960. Kudos to the DA who rejected all plea-bargins in this case, all deals that would have meant removing a death sentence from the table.
Let's hope the jury does the right thing.

Re: Another Home invasion with terrible results!
This case rattled me when it happened over three years ago. It rattles me still. The first of the murder trials is just now being conducted: http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/ap/ ... 27716.html.
If only this Connecticut family had been armed and had known how to defend themselves. If only Jennifer, Michaela, and Hayley Petit were alive today, and instead the two thugs who callously and brutally murdered them were serving their eternal torment.
Say a prayer for this family, kiss your wife or husband, and vow that this will never happen to your children.

This just in: Prosecutor says he will seek death penalty in home invasion case.
How could he do anything less? But if he's taking his time in making decisions, maybe he'll be meticulous in his prosecution.

Charles L. Cotton wrote:I heard on the news today that these two low-life tied the girls to beds and raped them, before setting the house on fire.
Hayley was 17 and had just graduated high school. Her younger sister, Michaela, was only 11.Petit, the president of the Hartford County Medical Association, is a noted specialist in diabetes and endocrinology and the medical director of the Joslin Diabetes Center Affiliate at The Hospital of Central Connecticut in New Britain.
Petit's wife, Jennifer Hawke-Petit, 48, a nurse, was co-director of the health center at Cheshire Academy, a private boarding school.
Hayley Petit received an early acceptance to Dartmouth, her father's alma mater. A tireless fundraiser for multiple sclerosis, captain of the basketball and crew teams and role model for younger students, Hayley Petit came from a family where helping people just came naturally.
From the Houston Chronicle (http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/hea ... 99739.html):
He has that right. And not just the public in Connecticut.Prosecutor Michael Dearington said he had not yet decided whether to pursue the death penalty.
"I know the public consensus is they should be fried tomorrow," he said.
There is a sergeant in the Jersey Village Police Department who has a storied military and LEO history. He allows a small handful of civillian shooters to train with his officers. He's told me one of them is a physician, and just about the best practical shooter on the squad.
If only these spineless victimizers had selected the home of a different physician...

Joshua Komisarjevsky, 26, of Cheshire, and Steven Hayes, 44, of Winsted, were arraigned Tuesday on charges of assault, sexual assault, kidnapping, burglary, robbery, arson, larceny and risk of injury to children.
That had better mean multiple-count first-degree murder charges, and the DA had better do the right job handling the case. We talked recently about Harris Count's ex-DA Johnny Holmes in another thread; I hope whatever jurisdiction of Connecticut that Cheshire falls under, that they have a Johnny Holmes at the helm on this one....and state police have said that additional charges are likely. [from Fox]
Plea bargain? The closest these two reprobates should come to a plea bargain is in negotiation for what will be served as their last meal.
