If he had insurance on the vehicle then in the second paragraph where it says "that the property cannot be recovered by any other means" could be bad news for him. Insurance being the "other means" that can be recovered. Do you think having life insurance means you can't defend ...

My CHL course instructor(initials D.H.) taught my class in Feb. 2012 that one should not bother carrying a gun for protection if you put the safety on.
