Re: Eligibility Q.
rockriver: one way to find out quickly what level misdemeanor you were charged with is to run a background check on yourself on the DPS website. It costs about $3.58.

Re: Eligibility Q.
rockriver, its too late for your attorney to do anything. You have to wait 5 years after a class B (or higher) misdemeanor arrest or deferred adjudication probation or conviction before you can qualify for a TX CHL. I'd recommend you look at AZ and/or FL for a non-resident permit (see handgunlaw.com...

Re: Eligibility Q.
It looks like it was at least a Class B Misdemeanor if this is what you were arrested for: Texas Transportation Code Sec. 545.420. RACING ON HIGHWAY. (a) A person may not participate in any manner in: (1) a race; (2) a vehicle speed competition or contest; (3) a drag race or acceleration contest; (4...

Re: New in Texas, two questions.
Since CO does NOT issue or honor non-resident licenses, the question you need answered is whether your CO permit is still valid since you don't live in CO. You may want to consider contacting the issuing agency in CO to find out if your permit is still valid.

Re: 'Loophole' in CHL law??
I agree with Charles. The TX CHL cost and requirements need to be reduced. FL has a similar training requirement and both AZ and FL have numerous reciprocal states. The c...

Re: CCW OWB Holster
I'm a big fan of OWB Blackhawk Serpa holsters. Great retention and more comfortable than IWB.

Re: IWB or OWB?
My personal experience/opinion: IWB is very discreet but very uncomfortable. OWB is comfortable but not as discreet. In both cases I use an untucked shirt in the summer. But for OWB I have to use a longer shirt to reduce the possibility of inadvertently exposing the lower portion of my holster. I us...

Re: AZ CWP process
I got my AZ CWP back in February. It sure is a LOT easier and cheaper than getting a TX CHL. I sure would like to see TX streamline the requirements like AZ has.
