New in Texas, two questions.

I became a Texas resident just recently. I went to the Police Department in Terrell, TX. and explainded that I had just become a resident and had a Colorado carry permit. I asked if it would be honored in Texas until I get a texas permit. I had asked several police officers and Sherrifs and was amazed at how little they seemed to know about it. I was told it would be honored here until the expiration date. Other people have told me that is incorrect. Anyone know for sure???
