Re: Lawn care suggestions...

Obviously, you have received an abundance of information about lawns. But, I can’t resist emphasizing one thing, based on a lifetime of maintaining my lawns in Houston. We also had an expert on Saturday radio for decades who may have been the same guy already mentioned by others. Because of the ques...

Re: Vendors won't ship to your PO Box? Here's how to solve that.

This is hard to follow, and some people, including my son, refuse to believe it. But here goes: We had a second home in a resort area. We had a box at the U.S. post office. They also delivered to street addresses, but not in my area. I would order a replacement part over the phone. I would be told t...

Re: I’ll Cook My Own- Thank You

I use 93% stuff, pour on "Wooster" sauce. My view is that if it doesn't shrink, not killing the bad germs. I judge when it is medium done by how much it shrinks. Can't beat home cooked burger.

Re: Ross Perot death

Many thanks to Rick Perry for that disclosure. I voted for Perot mainly because he vowed to drastically reduce the size of the federal government. I still think it is sorely needed. There exists no incentive for the size to shrink on its own. The incentives are for it to expand, and expand it does. ...

Re: WW II pictures then and now

Impressive! Do any of you recognize yourself or relatives in these shots? My real father may have been in France at the time. My foster father was stationed in Calcutta, involved in the "flying the hump" operation.

Re: "They Shall Not Grow Old"

Just viewing the trailer: "stunningly alive and vividly transformed" are truly understated. Amazing, what they have done with those old films! The big screen must be something, indeed. We must not forget the message: hard fought freedoms. New generation: pay attention, or, as you say today...

Re: Bear defense tactics: Pros & cons of guns vs. bear spray

Last summer, I was within 6 feet of a black bear. Of course, I was sitting at my desk and it was outside the window looking at me. As far as firing a handgun at one: When I am out on the trails, if I encounter one (I have encountered 3 moose together on the trail, about 20 yards from me), I intend ...

A test for Anti-concealed carry

A suggestion: If someone tells you they are against concealed carry because the carrier doesn’t have enough training and therefore creates a hazardous situation, ask them to take this test: You are in a store with your two kids and a BG enters and starts shooting at people indiscriminately, walking ...

Re: Now We Have a Snow White Problem.

Each new generation believes that they are smarter, know more about life, etc. than their predecessors. But, this PC thing and the rewriting of history trend takes the cake. I am concerned about the future of the country and its citizens.

Re: Turkey: Saudi journalist last seen at Saudi consulate in Turkey

I suppose there are those among us who believe that we should participate in global commerce with only those nations who are in lockstep with U.S. morals, human rights and judicial system. If so, that’s a pipe dream that will never come to fruition. And, we should not ruin our economy or spill our y...
