I don't know if you'd call Lewisville/FloMo a college town, but there is UNT right up the road. that's actually one of many reasons I moved out of Denton
back to the topic, trouble seems to follow me!
so, I'm watching the Orange Bowl last night, just chillin' on the couch. There's a middle school right next door to me, I can even see it from my couch, see the buses in the morning yadda yadda.
so, anyways, I'm watchin' Louisville get all over the field, and I hear two distinct sounds. The first: gunfire, the second squealing tires.
so I hit the floor, no need takin' a stray right? after the some of the commotion subsided, I grab a piece, and check out the parking lot from my balcony. There were still several cars leaving the scene (all little Honda Civics and/or clones with neon underneath), some even through the grass and what have ya.
needless to say I'm on the horn to the Fuzz, but there was nothing left to find when they got there. didn't even find any shell casings.
I figger maybe it was firecrackers, but it sure didn't sound like it.
who knows.....

you know, I heard something last night. it was an unusual sound, and therefore woke me from my slumber.
I instantly thought of ya'll. chuckling to myself, I did a dive roll into the living room while sweeping the room for Tangos.
okay, really I just looked around the living room (in the dark, with my el Naturale night vision) and saw the Cat pushing her food dish.
man, it's a really good thing I went and investigated, cause, if those cats'd gone all night without food, well, they may have eaten me in my sleep!
anyway, back to everyone getting offended.....

without playing devil's advocate (great movie, btw), I understand what El Stupido is saying.
to me, why would you leave the safety of a known situation, your bedroom, and go into an unknown situation, for instance: the living room, where the noise was heard. by going into the unknown, you are putting yourself at risk.
or even worse, going out side.
I understand that.
however, for me, I am going to investigate, because 1) not knowing is worse, and the repurcussions of a loved one coming into your bedroom, or a child in some of your cases, may be worse. I mean, you're hunkered down, heater in hand, just a'waitin' for that door to open. it does, and it's your ol' lady, comin' to visit, or it's your kid. even if you don't even process a thought of shooting, that's still not a good situation!
2) if there is a prowler, I'm just going to make a giant leap and assume they are not SEAL trained, and aren't employing tactics, and bravo teams, and what-not. it's some jacked up coke head (as were the one's that tried to take me, so many months ago), looking for a quick score. and I ain't got nuthin' that Ocean's 11 is going to want to heist!
or a cat, or whatever.
mind you, I live in an Apt, so, it'd be pretty hard to sneak up on me! what with me being able to see nearly every inch of the place w/o leaving the bedroom....

A guy pulled out in front of me, oh, couple of months back, on the road over by my residence. I went around him, you know, so as not to make my truck part of his car. dude took offense to me, I dunno, being on the road, and followed me back to my Apt Complex. I stopped by the office (I sure wasn't going to show him which building I lived in), and got out to "check the mail." he comes up to me and starts jawing about me trying to run him off the road, or some such nonsense, with his kid in the car.
I simply told him that if his concern was for his son, pulling out in front of moving traffic, and then following someone back to their residence, probably not the best example to set for a young one.
my infallable logic clearly got through, I didn't have to skin my smoke wagon.
