'Loophole' in CHL law??
Knock it off. Jumping Frog is correct. Your situation hurts our position on this issue, so quit publicizing it. Chas. Charles, I had already made the decision to withdraw from the conversation and allow frog the last word. The fact that you would side with him and chastise me makes it necessary for...

Re: MT shooting video
It looked like he initially froze after seeing the revolver. Once he reacted though he did a great job laying down fast and accurate fire (obviously with good effect). As far as it being a "good shoot" I think he acted appropriately and should be commended for his actions.

Re: 'Loophole' in CHL law??
I'm in a somewhat unique situation. I don't qualify for a Tx CHL until 2015 as I have a deferred adjudication felony charge. I'm able to purchase and own firearms legally, and I qualify for CHL's in most other states... so I carry in Tx using a non-resident chl from a state that shares reciprocity ...

A grown man (I assume) thinks it's against the law to carry a firearm on his own damn land. Our forefathers would be so proud...exbellicus wrote:While I'm at it...I typically open carry in my residence. I am permitted to answer the door without concealing as long as I don't cross the threshold. correct?

Re: CHL in Home-Based Child Care
I'm gonna say it would be very difficult to prove the "shoot" was a good one. It will most likely be your word against the word of the "victim" , and most likely their spouse/girlfriend will corroborate their version of the incident. If it went to trial I think a jury would proba...

Re: Pakistan's Wild West
Interesting! I'm surprised the english reporter put such a positive spin on a gun-friendly culture. He even went so far as to suggest the people were more friendly/laid back due to the high rate of gun ownership...I wish more journalists shared his opinion.

Re: carrying around the house question
Agree with all the advice given. I would also like to add my personal experience and that I know of personally two people who have been bitten by a pit bull. Both in the face and one of them needed reconstructive surgery. It was horrific! Needless to say I don't mess with aggressive dogs, especiall...

Look what I got!
After much research I finally bought my first 1911 .45. I went with the Dan Wesson Valor 5" with black duty coating. The fit and finish is amazing and the trigger is unbelievable. It's so good it puts my P7M8 to shame. Now I just need to find some nice leather and convince my wife I only paid 6...

You bring up a good point OP. I don't know that our bill of rights should apply to citizens of other countries just because they are visiting the US. I also believe all men have a right to defend themselves and their loved ones. It's a hard call to make , I'm interested to see what everybody else th...

Re: Brother owes back support in Nevada, can he get tex CHL?
1. Child support has nothing to do with crime prevention, so the eligibility requirements related to child support or taxes are unconstitutional; 2. Child support provisions in the Texas Family Code encourage divorce and have little to do with taking care of a child. a. Texas law should be changed t...

Re: Brother owes back support in Nevada, can he get tex CHL?
Welcome to the forum. I'm not sure about the answer to your question but I hope he can get his CHL. Another option could be to get his CHL in Az or Fl and carry on that until he can get his Tx CHL. I would also like to say good on your brother getting his child support caught up. There are many situ...

A badly handled 3 am incident pre chl
Back in 2002 my family(wife and 2 young daughters) were temporarily living in Converse Tx while waiting for our new house to be move in ready. The neighborhood (Camelot II) was off Windcrest in a bad part of town, and we were living in a rental duplex provided free from our realtor who represented u...
