I have a friend that has the brass receiver and has been hunting for years without scaring any game away. They shoot very well and are very smooth. The Annoyed Man wrote: ↑Thu Aug 08, 2019 5:57 pmThe have the side loading gate, but also retain the removable magazine tube: https://www.henryusa.com/rifles/side-gate-lever-action/OldCannon wrote: ↑Thu Aug 08, 2019 5:07 pmSide loading Henry?! NOW you have my attention! The Annoyed Man wrote: ↑Thu Aug 08, 2019 4:32 pm But I really like Henry's quality right out of the box, and now that they’re offering models with a side-loading gate.....(Their whole tube-loading contraption was a non-starter for me)
I'm waiting for them to come out with a blued-receiver version. I'm not much on the shiny brass look. I guess it's attractive, but it is not very utilitarian. I think that reflections from the shiny brass finish could alert game to your presence. Hence my preference for a blued version. But, they are available in .30-30 Win, .38-55 Win, and .35 Rem - all of which are useful calibers, even if the .38-55 isn't as easy to find as the .30-30 and .35 Rem.

I would love it to replace the one I sold years ago that I should not have. Be that as it may the timing could not be worst. May it find a great home.
