Apparently they are trying to smile at adversity, because they were blasting out emails, tweets and even running ads trying to kill this "terrible and dangerous Bill!" I guess lying is systemic at MDA.

Chas.
I look at it as the first time we are all in agreement: A good guy with a gun is a good thing. I'm glad to see that they have finally come to their senses.

Maybe the Dutton/Huffines amendment is more important that we thought! That doesn't mean the amendment is making the bill more likely or easier to pass, but it does shed some more light on its importance.
The Amendment makes HB910 much less likely to pass. It still may, but it affords the opportunity for Senators West and Ellis to kill it in the Senate, if the House does anything other than concur.

The Huffines amendment provides no protection to Texans. As Sen. Huffines himself argued on the floor of the Senate, it takes little more than carrying a gun to meet the requirements of his amendment and the reasonable suspicion requirement.

I must admit that I'm growing a bit weary of all of the discussion about Chief Acevedo. There's more than one city and town in Texas.

Chas.
Could all of the posturing from Chief Acevedo serve as reason to confirm? I think it's redundant and unnecessary, but he sure doesn't for some reason.

The Dutton amendment passed 133-10-1. I just don't see 58 reps doing an about face, but I guess one thing is for certain in politics: uncertainty. I will certainly take note if my rep changes tune.

Regardless of what happens, it is frustrating that we are still biting our nails on May 27.

I think this girl was given a piece of paper and told, "read this."

LOL it's the 5th time we've heard the same speech.
Oh, I'm going to have some fun with their script.

Chas.
I wish they would just put all the MDA people in one block, give them however many minutes they are allowed (# of people x 2 mins), and just pipe in the Benny Hill theme song for that time slot. Its not like they are saying anything relevant to HB910. They just want to make their point against the bill. Benny Hill would at least entertain everyone.

Licensed open carriers will be hassled all over the state by power tripped LEO's who like to do that kind of thing.

It didn't happen to me, (yet) but in my town, LEO's routinely disarm CHL's (For your protection and mine) all the time and refuse to return their weapons, saying -- you can come get it at the station.

An internal affairs investigation was done, and never made public, and nothing has changed. Having the Dutton amendment removed will encourage more of this sort of behavior.

If this happens, I'm sure it will be addressed in 2017. I'm disappointed the Dutton amendment is in jeopardy, but it is what it is.

That was the dumbest argument a police chief could have made.
