Re: More of My Thoughts On Where We Are Headed
I live in west Houston. I must admit, I am reconsidering looking at joining a militia here in Texas. There is strength in numbers with the right minded people. I had looked about a year ago and my wife didn't agree with me so the issue was dropped. Anybody have experience with some of these in Texas...

Re: Verifying Instructor Certification
I haves friend who told me she was going to get her CHL about 6 months ago. I go and visit her and she shows me her certificate of completion. I congratulate her and ask her a couple of simple questions related to where you can carry or can't. Every question was answered wrong. I questioned her furt...

Re: OWB 1911 Commander Holster
I use a belt slide holster. I have to unholster and holster several times a day. That type holster allows me to not have to remove my holster just my weapon.

Re: What's the Origin of Your User Name?
During my time in the military, I was assigned to the !st Special Operations Squadron based at Clark AB in the Phillipines. The commander had everyone pick a nickname and we had patches with that name put on our BDU's as our name. My nickname was Gilligan.

Jak slide holster experience
Anybody have experience with the Jak belt slide holster? I am considering it for my 1911 commander. I work with children, in their homes, on the floor most times. I cannot take off my holster in the house and will take it off in the car and put it in my briefcase (holstered) and walk up to the house...

Re: carry condition one and magazine spring life
As a follow up, I have had to unload about three times since this original post ( holster shopping at various stores ) and I have noticed bullet setback even though I replaced those top rounds in my magazine. What could be causing that. The bullet set back is enough that I can measure about 1-1.5 mm...

Re: Veterans What was your best assignment/duty?
I was at Clark AB in the Phillipines in late "80s to early "90s. It was the wrong place to send a fresh 18 y/o from Sourlake TX, but I survived. I also spent about 9 years living on Okinawa (Naha, Kadena, and another place I cannot remember) as a military brat. In the summer, my best frien...

carry condition one and magazine spring life
I carry my 1977 colt commander in condition one always. However, I have a concern about my magazine spring. I understand to keep the magazines loaded to ensure spring life but i unload every night from condition one to put my gun in my bedside safe ( i have several small children). Does the unloadin...

Re: How to handle a hug when they inadvertetnly feel your we
I have a pair of 4 year old twin boys and they frequently watch me "belt up" with my colt commander. i go to pick them up from school (my church) or whenever they hug me and they always bang thier head on my gun and this is what I hear, " Is that your gun again?". I lean down and...
