Re: How to "desensitize" a town for Open Carry?

I had another idea about "desensitizing" the locals to open carry. I'm thinking of finding others that want to open carry and getting a restaurant to approve of a few of us having lunch there once a week. Maybe more than one. This way non carriers would see citizens carrying and not being ...

Re: How to "desensitize" a town for Open Carry?

I agree with all of the above. i am normally VERY anti "CHL Badge". We've all seen them offered on the internet. I wonder how well these would be accepted if they were mounted on your OWB Holster. Now I'm just thinking out loud here so please be constructive. The first thing someone is goi...

Re: CHL and Open Carry Question

For me...the smart thing to do is be polite, always present your CHL when asked for ID and in fact quickly inform any LEO you are carrying. Even when not asked for ID. If asked for ID or CHL when OCing do so and be respectful. If asked why you are OCing respectfully explain to the officer that Texas...

How to "desensitize" a town for Open Carry?

Jan 1 2016 Texans will be able to openly carry sidearms. However in some towns local LE will have a problem with this as change never comes easy. Wearing a firearm can get you arrested for other charges (or have in some towns) So I'm thinking of ways to "desensitize" the local community es...

Re: Neighbor got a domestic violence charge

Dismissed? As in, not guilty, not pleaded to lesser charge, no deferred adjudication, no protective order currently in force? Should be ok but will need to provide the record of dismissal. Just text him and he said clean dismiss with no protective orders, deferment, or other conditions. No court da...

Neighbor got a domestic violence arrest

He wants a CHL but is not sure he can get one.
All charges were dismissed but he did do the ride and overnight stay.

Q1: Can he get a CHL?

Q2: He was told that his firearms may be confiscated even though charges were dismissed.
Any truth to that?

First IDPA shoot

Went out Saturday to my first IDPA match.
I'm hooked.

Four stages,
I did pretty good for my first shoot.
Didn't push for time really. Work more on accuracy.

Next one is on Aug 30.

Re: Question: Need a Reliable rifle.

I personally use an AR 10 chambered in .308.

But from the generality of your needs I would recommend a more standard AR 15.

Tons of accessories.
Reliable
Good for medium game.
Availability
Lite weight

A shotgun would be a good choice also.

Re: Dallas Gun Buy Back

I'm going with $500. Bound to find a good deal.
I'll ask the person if it's a legal gun. Then call my cop buddy to run the number.
I'll offer twice the church's price. We should all go!!!

Re: Alamo Heights: Officer fatally shoots student

When ever there is a Officer involved shooting some are quick to judge. I agree with the moderator, we all need ot take a breath. When the cop shot the mentally challenged man recently from 30 feet and was fired the truth came out. It doesn't always come out. But every time I've ever had an LEO enco...

RadarScope App

As many of you know I'm former US Coast Guard. One of the MOST likely scenarios for being prepared is mother nature throwing a fit. The vast majority of people being in danger is nature. Most of us have cell phones. With few exceptions the Nation Weather Service has Doppler Radar covering the vast m...

Agreed sir.
I hope I'm not in the group of overly stressed folks.
Your points are well thought out and well put.
