Although spare mags for the 709 are rare as unicorns these days, they will eventually make it back to the shelves. The addition of the Pearce magazine pinky extension is a worthy purchase. I tried the Hogue grips, but ended up giving them away at the range..I'm a little late to the party but I picked up a 709 Slim a couple of weeks ago and I'm really liking it. The trigger on mine is really nice and the adjustable sights are a nice thing to have on such a small gun. I'm waiting on a holster so that I can add it to my EDC rotation. I trust it.
I've had a Taurus PT92 for a while longer and have a couple hundred through that as my "fun gun" and it is one of my favorites.
I paid $325 out the door with one magazine at Academy for the Slim and while I knew I wanted it, I frankly was shocked by how much I have come to like it.

I have the 709 and 740. Have been reliable pistols and in CCW rotation. No buyers remorse.
