Now, on the note of the thread, my wife and daughter own a business and run it together. They have a sign in the front window that says CHL's welcome here. I had an interesting conversation with both of them after seeing the Starbucks thread and asked what they would do. Their answer was if someone walked into their shop with a weapon displayed, they would probably be looking down the barrel of at least one if not two XD's. Interesting point. How would they know that this person was not there to rob them? Yes he can legally carry a rifle openly, BUT, that doesn't eliminate the fact that the girls would, in their minds, be protecting themselves.

These people that are doing this before something like this happens and someone gets hurt or gets dead.

I think a lot of the reaction is on how the individual is handling the "weapon." If the person walked in giving the impression that it is part of their clothing I would be okay. If the person was acting nervous I would be a little alarmed and watch them. If the person acted very nervous and twitchy I would be highly alarmed and very watchful of them. If the person couldn't keep a hand off the gun I would be extremely alarmed and call 911 or leave.
