I wouldn't wait until then. The public universities are already forming their committees as we speak. That is your reason for inquiry right now. It also lets you get ahead of the situation before it's too late.

I hope I'm wrong. And if Texas A&M is taking the least restrictive approach possible, kudos to them. But I still think that they'll be the exception rather than the rule..

Given that all Texas universities have had the option to allow concealed carry for years, but none have done so is a good predictor of how sb11 will be implemented by public universities. 2016 will only serve as a data point for removing "discretion" from administrations.

So far, most of the reported reaction has been hyperbolic at best & juvenile at its worst. I expect the advisory committees to report back to their respective administrations with more of the same wailing and gnashing of teeth. The administrators will take the recommendations as justification for carving out a few "allowable" carry areas instead of limiting no-carry zones as the legislature intended.
