Re: Nevada gun laws

Casinos and other businesses may restrict your right to carry by posting a sign a each door saying they do not wish to have guns on the premises (gunbuster or any other sign that gets the point across is legal) BUT violation of that rule (IE passing the sign while armed) is punishable by a $25 trespassing ticket only.

None of the major casinos are posted.

When you pass thru hoover dam unload your magazines and lock up the gun somewhere. There are wackenhut checkpoints at each end, backed up by DOI police and they randomly check trunks etc...

Re: Nevada gun laws

I just realized that I didnt answer the questions completely, I sort of stopped mid thought.

Boulder City does restrict loaded weapons within their city limits. Its an old law saying basically that any weapons in town need to be broken down (dealt mostly with shotguns when it was written) but they can not update any of their gun laws or the state laws will supercede the new laws and they would rather keep their own laws than allow the state ones to rule. Similar situation in North Las Vegas where its illegal to carry a loaded gun in the car. Nevada CHL holders are exempt from that one IF the weapon is in a holster on your person only.

The laws there are sometimes strange. Its legal to open carry in Nevada, but dont try it anywhere in Clark county (las vegas area) or you will find out what 130 degree pavement feels like. Its not illegal there but they dont like it anyway. =)

I have never heard of a CHL holder being prosecuted for any of the city laws, but I spoke with Boulder City and NLV cops about them while I lived there and they said they would use them as a reason to make you uncomfortable for a while, even if they didnt prosecute. The Boulder City cop said the slide should be removed from any semi-autos in Boulder. I just avoided that town. Strange place, even gambling is illegal in Boulder City.

Re: Nevada gun laws

It depends on what city you are asking about. Boulder City may be the worst but there are a few other cities in Nevada with gun laws more restrictive than the state laws, but none limit magazines to 10 - thats california.

What exactly are your questions? Im not claiming to be a nevada gun law expert, but I lived and carried there for a while so I have some of the answers you might be seeking.

Good luck. =)
