Re: So Long, and Thanks for All the Fish
Speaking as someone that's come from a place where citizens are not allowed to own guns for home defense, I think that Texas gun laws are a huge step in the right direction. I've gone from only being able legally permitted to take my pistol (trigger locked and in a locked case, with magazines legall...

Re: Safely chambering at home?
You can by something like I have linked below but sometimes they are cost prohibitive. In the 90's when i was in the military we used cans full of sand. There is probably something on the web on how to build one. BTW, I leave my carry gun chambered all the time except when I need to tear it down fo...

Re: First oopsie
I never not wear anything between my skin and the gun. So my attire always includes a t-shirt under whatever other shirt I'm wearing. This. I always try to coordinate my holster choices with my clothing choices so that I've got at least a thin layer between the pistol and my body. I have one holste...

Re: Another StarBucks boycott (AKA sales opportunity)
I will be making a point of going to one or two Starbucks locations today and letting the staff know that I appreciate their employer's determination to let our democratic system determine who can and cannot carry firearms for personal defense in public places.

Re: Thank you guys for saving me $$$$ on my jeep
texanjoker, it's good to know that the shop stands behind its work. They did what they were supposed to do and backed their warranty. The fact that the pilot bearing comes with the clutch kit tells you all you need to know about the standard procedures for clutch jobs. No reputable shop would warra...

Re: Hatch chiles
I'm new to Texas, so this is my first exposure to Hatch Chiles. I picked up a couple pounds of roasted chiles from Central Market this afternoon, chopped them up, and froze some for making green chile sauce later. I also picked up some fresh chiles - not sure what I will do with them yet. Any sugges...

Re: Let's talk about knives
If I were to choose an EDC specifically for SD, I would not be able to choose a fixed blade - it would like trying to choose my 16" AR for firearm EDC. Even in a place where it's 100% legal, it's not practical for me based on my lifestyle. My choice would be a karambit with the Emerson Wave fea...

Re: Question on AKs
That looks almost exactly like what I'd like. Simple, no need for a whole bunch of tacticool rails....just enough for a micro RDS, and a bone-simple clamp for a surefire coming off the side. I know you don't have your optic yet, but have you done any research as to what sort of co-witness most micro...

Re: IDPA Classifier near Houston?
I'll bring this thread back from the dead. If you're still looking for a classifier (I know that's a long shot two months later), Team Trainwreck is having one at The Arms Room on August 26th. Registration opens to non-members on August 19th.

That is impressive. When I pick up a new 12 gauge to replace what I've sold (long story), I believe there will be some Federal #1 buck being purcahsed at the same time.

Re: Question on AKs
Jeepguy79, that's the sort of configuration that I'd like to get in an AK. I'm an "AR guy", but I'd like to start gaining new skills. I like to have my carbines equipped with a zero magnification sight (as far forward as is feasible), as well as a flashlight mount (preferably with a flashl...

Re: Home defense ammo
The dismal performance of the 147gr subsonic 9mm is the reason why many agencies dropped the 9mm altogether and went to the .40 S&W. Just about any of the 115gr or 124gr +P or +P+ are far superior. This was true at the time that the switch occurred. Ammunition technology has changed since then ...

Re: Best Shotgun Shells for Home Defense
I would grab first my AK74 or M400. HD shotguns are cool but not ideal. As for your rd ending somewhere outside your house, I recommend not to miss. Whether or not a HD shotgun is ideal depens on the house, the user, and the neighbourhood. That's not just a can of worms, that's a whole barrel. Nobo...
