Re: ammo on sale
I have found plenty of Federal 9mm practice ammo at $9.47 a box at Wal-Mart in San Antonio recently. Picked up 6 boxes at one and one case of 20 boxes at another. There was an overstock of 40-cal ammo at one.

Re: ammo on sale
I was informed by my friend at Wal-Mart that the microstamping issue pending in California (which Corporate thinks may have wider implications) is a variable in corporate's decision process about having lots of ammo on-hand. I don't know how accurate this is.92f-fan wrote:Thats interesting since the stores around here vary greatly in display space, selection, and inventory,USMC-COL wrote:Speaking to the Sporting Goods manager (who is a friend) at my local Wal-Mart in San Antonio, he informed me that the local stores cannot order any ammo any more. I wonder what made corporate change strategy for that one item category

Re: ammo on sale
Lately I have been able to get most of the ammo I need (mostly 9mm) from my local Wal-Mart on Leslie Road near 1604 in San Antonio at reasonable prices. Over a thousand rounds to prep for the State IDPA Championship next week.

What Constitution? Didn't you get the O-memo?usa1 wrote:i respectfully decline to answer your question on the advice of my councilbigolbigun wrote:usa1 wrote:the only reason ammo is easier to find is because i stopped hoarding...
So your the one!
as afforded to me by the constitution of the United States of America.
After visiting my local Wally World and Academy Sports a couple of times every week and usually coming up short on ammo, I knew my wife was stopping by our usual WW so I half-heartedly asked her to pick me up some 9mm if they (by chance) had any. I didn't expect for her to see any. I get a call on my cell-phone 20 minutes later indicating that she had purchased 600 rounds of WWB. They had six 100-round boxes and she cleaned them out. Good girl!

Re: ammo on sale
Went to Academy on 1604 near 281 in San Antonio yesterday. Was told there was a line waiting to purchase ammo before the store opened. No target Blazer or Winchester in sight. It was all purchased within minutes. I saw one lady purchase all boxes of a particular 22 caliber ammo. Noticed they had a G17L and a G24 displayed for the first time - $6ish. Everything else had moved.
Went to Sportman's Warehouse across the highway from Academy on 1604 and I'm sad to say it is closing. There was a fire sale going on, but half of the store was already empty. The economy is taking its toll.
