I would be interested in hearing more detail on the issues you had with "the tac reload requirements in defensive pistol". Specifically, the requirements as well as your difficulty. I am getting ready to book a tactical training class and reloading in-drill is part of that.
BHNC...I only had one 7 round and one 5 round mag. I misplaced my other 5 rounder. There were several timed draw from holster drills that required access to no less than 14 rounds so without another mag I was SOL. Next time I will have at least two 7 rounders and two five rounders on two belt clips. In the closed quarters drill in which we weren't allowed a reload, we needed at least 10 rounds.
RB.. Thanks for the explanation.
I am sure you punched plenty of holes in the 8 and 9 rings for the instructor to forgive your magazine transgression.

Here is a Nano / XDs comparison video. Interesting stuff. I compared both of these before I bought my Walther PPS in December (which I really like). All three are gong to be hard to find, especially the XDS 9mm and Nano as they are new, highly sought after firearms. I tried out the XDs .45 at the time but the new 9mm is the same frame with a 9mm barrel so specs will be the same but recoil different. And, you can't go wrong with either a Walther or Beretta as both are very tightly manufactured guns with great reputation and customer service.
Good luck with your decision.

Re: Small carry gun Shield, LC 9, or a small Sig

All,
This would be a great conversation to have sitting around the fire in someone's backyard or ranch! All the opinions are great because they are just that, opinions, not right or wrong just personal observations. I personally would love to have the opportunity to sit and hear, compare and show gun choices, holsters, ammo and carry options. However, I guess online will have to suffice.
#gguess66 - there are a lot of good suggestions and info to glean from this thread so far. Examples: try before you buy if possible. Where you can/will carry: pocket, boot, IWB/OWB, pant/pocket size, etc. It all comes into play and like most, you will probably end up with multiple sidearms for different situations.
Someone mentioned investing in a good gun belt and holster. Absolutely agree, keep trying/buying until you find the ones that work for you.
Pants pockets: I also have Duluth Trading jeans that have the bigger pockets. Great jeans in general for anyone, especially we big people. I can drop my 9mm into the pocket and go but would rather have my holster on a belt for long periods of time.
Gun size/hand size: obviously there is no absolute answer. It's just what fits your hand and what you can accurately shoot with what fits. I am a relatively big guy with thick hands but want a slim sidearm that is easy to conceal and doesn't print in either pocket or 3 o'clock holster. I had several on my list to try that are included in some of the suggestions on this post. What fit my hand and shot most accurately for me was the Walther PPS 9mm. It's a very tightly manufactured weapon and less than an inch thin but the grip is wide from front to back so it feels solid in the hand. Very accurate and easy to holster-unholster. And by what I have read is the new CCW for the Seals.
AND, if Texas legislature could get the open Cary law passed then we could all sit around and compare our fancy holsters.

#gguess66 - good post question!
