Re: DPS is currently inputting mid Feb.
To pass on information the lady gave me yesterday..... Just because something is not updated it does not mean that it's not being worked on or completed. eg: She assured me that my I'm through background check, it was issued and queued for manufacturing. However, the only thing that changed on the DPS website is my fingerprints show completed. Due to the recent high volume the focus is processing apps not updating statuses.

Re: DPS is currently inputting mid Feb.
My online status hasn't changed either. Like I told my wife "with my luck something will get lost and it takes 3 more weeks."

Re: DPS is currently inputting mid Feb.
Just received a call (6:00pm) from a very nice lady in Austin from Texas DPS asking if it was ok to use my driver's license photo. Apparently the conversation I had with my state representatives chief of staff did some good. The DPS rep on the phone stated I have cleared background check, I was approved, it was being queued for manufacturing, it would be mailed within 24 hours and expect it within 7 days.
I would swear a friend was playing a sick joke but she gave me her contact email and phone number.

Re: DPS is currently inputting mid Feb.
For what it's worth...... I happened to run into the chief of staff for my state rep last Friday and she stated her CHL app is taking an exceedingly long time as well. So even if you have a little pull your app will be processed when it's processed. Going the state rep route will probably just give you a bit of false appeasement.

Day 34 since DPS received my packet....... no update. However I shouldn't be surprised, I've always been above average.Charles L. Cotton wrote:DPS' current average turnaround time is 30-34 days.

You did read the part where the winner buys.... right?Natesac wrote:Fingerman wrote:Ok.... Winner gets to buy the loser a box of 9mm ammo.Natesac wrote:USPS website says they received my packet 2/28 also. My online status still says awaiting documents.

YOU'RE ON!!! Got a box of 50 FMJ I can put up for a friendly wager.
I just realized we're neighbors. I moved from Rowlett to Wylie back in November. Not because I like it better but this is where my wife lives.

Day 30 since my packet was signed for and still not showing as received online..... However that means at some point in the next 30 more days I'll have plastic issued. (Trying to look at this from a glass half full perspective.)

Re: DPS is currently inputting mid Feb.
Thanks Charles. I do not doubt your information and was merely passing along what the young lady told me about the 60 days. My question is what happens if your application isn't processed in 60 days?Charles L. Cotton wrote:DPS' current average turnaround time is 30-34 days. I was on a conference call with DPS yesterday and this was one of the items covered. Also, the statutory 60 days begins when they receive a full application packet, not when it's entered into the system.
Chas.
Lesson learned..... Information you receive from someone at DPS is not always factual.

DPS is currently inputting mid Feb.
Here's the results of my call to DPS:
1. They are 6 weeks behind and currently inputting mid-February documents.
2. Once Online app, electronic fingerprints and your documents are entered into the system the estimate is 60 days from that date to issue. (I'm sure "60 days" is a standard answer)
3. Any delay, ie: additional information/documents needed, at this point may add another 6 weeks once they receive the documents.
DPS signed for my documents February 28....... guess I'll go search for ammo a little longer.
