From time to time, depending on where I'm going (not big city), I carry a blued 1970s vintage Ruger Police Service Six chambered in .38 Special (not .357 Magnum). I usually carry Federal "FBI Load" (38 Special +P LSWCHP). I have a rather nice OWB leather holster from Simply Rugged that it rides in, along with a speed strip in a flat leather pouch that rides on my belt, too. That old revolver has had some rounds through it, but since the frame and cylinder were engineered for .357, I highly doubt I'll be able to wear it out in my lifetime shooting .38s in it. I have some confidence in my ability to hit with that thing, though I do understand that "no battle plan survives contact with the enemy".
