My younger daughter attends Texas Tech. I asked her about it, she said she didn't even know about it, but wouldn't have attended anyway. I'd be curious to see how many people actually show up for that thing. Methinks the press will exaggerate a bit...philip964 wrote:http://www.theamericanmirror.com/trayvo ... ence-gala/

Once again, the liberal-progressives/leftists show they have absolutely ZERO decency. They just can't stand it when they are WRONG.philip964 wrote:http://www.ktrh.com/pages/michaelberry. ... e=11512641
Zimmerman faked the car accident per a liberal radio host. No way this thread is not going to 200.

Re: 17y/o Killed By Neighborhood Watch/CHL
Your "grill" is your teeth...so telling someone to get out of your grill or get off your grill is to tell them to get out of your face, or to get away from you, even. The word grill is used because of the metal (gold) caps that a lot of rappers get on their teeth, thus giving the allusion to the grill of a car.Dave2 wrote:I have no idea how to interpret that.... Does "grill" mean a grill (for cooking), a grill (the front of a car), a grill (the front of a car for teeth), or is it an incorrect use of the verb grill (the act of cooking) or grill (to ask questions)?apostate wrote:Consider the phrase, "Step off my grill, dawg." It's an idiomatic expression, not intended to be taken literally.
When you are an aircraft maintenance sergeant in the USAF and spend some significant time driving a truck full of young mechanics around, you learn a lot of stuff about "pop culture".

Re: 17y/o Killed By Neighborhood Watch/CHL
If TM was AFRAID of the "creepy cracker" as he referred to GZ, why did he not simply continue on to his dad's place and tell him that someone was following him? And I stick with my earlier statement that is because he was immersed into a culture that told him he was tough and to not take anything off anyone and to confront anyone who disrespected him. I'm not asking you to buy any, but go online and listen to gangsta rap, THE WORDS, and see what all they say in that type of music. I listened to it a little when I was younger and I KNOW what is said...but then again, the rap artists weren't really talking to me.

BINGO! That's what I've been saying. Its about those who are immersed in the thug "culture", who are wannabes of the thug culture, or who believe that to be an acceptable lifestyle, for whatever reason. I don't happen to fit into any of those categories.ScooterSissy wrote:I've noticed at my office, most of those that are black feel Zimmerman should be acquitted (all of them that I know of); however, they're all security guards, mostly former LEO and/or military.Dragonfighter wrote:You know I find it interesting, the number of blacks at my work who think GZ should be acquitted vs. the number of non-blacks who thinks he's guilty.
I've finally decided that this whole thing mostly boils down to a cultural differnce. Some cultures feel that Zimmerman disrespecting Martin (by following him) justified a beatdown. Those that feel that way also seem to feel Zimmerman is guilty. Those that realize LEGALLY Martin had no right to attack seem to feel Zimmerman is innocent (of a crime).

BINGO! I listened to enough rap when I was a younger guy to know that it teaches that if they are "gangstas" then they are "hard" and no one should be allowed to "disrespect" them...if someone does, beat down time.VMI77 wrote:sunny beach wrote:Only if they think (wannabe) criminals should be allowed to preemptively attack (wannabe) cops with deadly force without facing deadly force in response. I bet the jury bites on Zimmerman playing cop, and that could cause Zimmerman problems. Time will tell.
I think the argument is more specific....though while not stated....implied: black criminals should be allowed to give a beat down when they're dissed.

Re: 17y/o Killed By Neighborhood Watch/CHL
I've said this before, but if GZ is somehow able to win an acquittal, then the Southwestern USA is the best place for him. No one will give him a second look anywhere from Arizona to Texas. And that would be the best thing for him.fishman wrote:Something tells me it's going to be a long weekend! This certainly is not 2nd degree murder, but I feel like George will be railroaded. It just seems like a lot of people are determined to make Z pay for T's death, and make a big example against self defense laws.... and guns. If Z gets off, then the liptards will say he only needed one bullet, not 15. When it comes right down to it, my prediction is, sadly there will be riots. Z will have to move far away and look over his shoulder for the rest of his life.

Re: 17y/o Killed By Neighborhood Watch/CHL
This thing is so long AndyC that I cannot remember if you stated a position earlier. Do you believe that GZ intentionally provoked a fight with TM? I thought that intent was very important in something like this case (barring the media circus surrounding it), though since IANAL I am very willing to be "schooled" on this subject.AndyC wrote:I stand somewhat corrected, however:
It applies to unlawful force, note - and under both the Florida and Texas statutes, shooting is a last resort (as it should be); you can't stand there and use a gun to end a fist-fight that you provoked and you're losing.baldeagle wrote:(4) if the actor provoked the other's use or attempted use of unlawful force, unless:
Bottom line of what I was getting at is - if you provoked it, you'll have a really hard time convincing a jury that you were defending yourself in response. I didn't say it was impossible - just a very long shot, and I firmly believe that because of the "reasonable man" concept. A reasonable man does not provoke a fight, uses a gun because he was losing when he had other options of escape - and then turns around and claims self-defense. Legal or not, if I were on such a jury, I would use every bit of jury nullification to send such a person to prison.

It really doesn't matter what the that witness says, exactly. She's just part of the motions on the way to convicting George Zimmerman for political reasons. I'm sorry, but my faith in our overall "justice system" is ebbing rapidly. I'll be truly amazed if he is acquitted.

VoiceofReason wrote:I have said it over and over. This whole thing is just political persecution of Zimmerman. It has been from the start. Even Obummer got in on the act.

Its supposed to be "innocent until proven guilty". But due to the media and the celebrities and the POTUS running their mouths, it has become a matter of GZ proving he's innocent because they have already made him guilty. And you can bet that they are doing this not only against GZ, but to set precedent in the court, as well.

They should have come to Texas. Seriously speaking, who would have noticed a few regular Hispanic folks here? Especially with so many people coming to Texas from other states. In Texas, they could easily arm themselves against troublemakers, AND have the right to defend themselves against said troublemakers if it unfortunately came to that.philip964 wrote:http://www.breitbart.com/Big-Government ... ma-bullied
