Mr. Cotton, I was saying pretty much the same thing to the guys at work tonight. That Senator Cruz should have kept it simple, said that while obvious differences of opinion exist between good Republicans, that they should all agree that the goal is to prevent HRC from obtaining the WH. I am seriously disappointed in Senator Cruz and feel that he has given HRC a gift she most certainly does not deserve in the least.Charles L. Cotton wrote:He didn't have to "endorse" him, he could have taken the Ronald Reagan approach. When Reagan lost to Gerald Ford, he stood on the podium with Ford at the convention and gave a great speech unifying the Party around the one candidate. Cruz should have done the same.ajwakeboarder wrote:I'm gonna get flamed for this, but I am incredibly proud of him. I can't believe anyone would expect him to endorse the man who implied his dad had something to do with a Presidential assassination, called him a liar, and a cheater. I will never be a politician because I don't have the temperament for it. I would have punched trump in the face early on in this race.
Many people, including me I must admit, previously stated that Cruz may be our best chance of having another Reagan in the White House. We owe Reagan a heartfelt apology. Reagan was a true statesman who put the country's interest above his own. Cruz is just another politician. By tomorrow when he realizes what he has done to his own political future, he may well try to "fix" his problem. It won't work.

Re: Republican Convention: Cruz supporters planning trouble?
A bit earlier tonight, I read an article from the Financial Times (FT). It was written by a man who seemed to hold great disdain for the "populist masses", and other such utterances, and felt that even more manipulation was needed (though not in those words, of course). He expressed great fear that Mr. Trump may be elected and could actually upset their global apple cart. If an elitist like the man who wrote the article is afraid of Mr. Trump, then that tells me voting for Mr. Trump is the right thing to do.

Throwing a tantrum because they didn't get their way doesn't speak very well of them. Additionally, I heard the #neverTrump folks aren't really going to accomplish anything other than looking foolish and providing the Demos with some soundbites. Mr. Preibus made offers to play ball with them, and they turned down those offers, so now they are just stuck.
As I told someone today, Mr. Trump doesn't even have to be a good President. He can be mediocre, and the situation will still be better than it is right now. IMHO, we currently have a man in office who has in many cases actively worked against the very nation he is supposed to be leading. So, all a potential Trump-as-President has to do to make things better is not be against the nation, and I don't see why he won't at least be for the nation. That's why I'm okay voting for him, whatever one may think about his personality.
