The canvas is laced with a wire mesh. I doubt anything would be able to get through it and into the trigger guard. It certainly isn't Pliable enough to poke a finger into the trigger guard with the canvas and mesh wrapped around it.

It's kinda like a canvas bag on the inside. It's not plush, but not abbrasive. I use a rug like the picture shows, but it probably isn't nessecary.

the cable has big brass thing/wedge/knot in it. the knot pulls though the end of the cable and can't be pulled back through when the lock is on. I usually cable it around the seat track, spare tire or trunk hinge. they have one that says "NRA" on it too. (if you don't want "beretta" on it) I think they make one for rifles and shotguns too.

I use one of these. I swapped the lock for small combination lock though
