Re: Daylight Savings Time
It helps give all of us farmers time to tend to the crops and animals. I say put it on DST and leave it. :iagree: Standard Time sucks. While I understand people not liking the spring/fall time change, I can't imagine why anyone would prefer standard time to daylight savings. My vote is for year-rou...

Re: ATV riders in Richmond shoot dog
I find it alarming how some people here say that if a stranger drew on a chasing dog in their presence, they would not only draw their own weapon but immediately shoot the other person. Arguing that it's justified because the mere presence of the gun represents an imminent threat ignores the fact th...

Re: Chamber or No Chamber
I have a personal bias towards 1911s though I do think Glocks are good guns. I would be almost willing to bet that if you check what weapons have the most unintended discharges, it would be Glocks. That could be because they are so common in police work, but it could also be because they do not hav...

Re: Flying to Denver. Driving back with CHL.
Ignore gun busters. Leave if asked. I know this is the interpretation at HandgunLaw.us, but the lawyers behind the "Legal Heat" app disagree pretty strongly. CCW app also recommends against carrying where posted. At best I'd say this is a somewhat gray area, so folks might want to conside...

Re: TactiPac Fusion Review
I got one of these a little while back. I really like the idea of a holster that doesn't need a belt, but I think there's still room for improvement in a product like this. On the plus side, the back panel is very comfortable against your body even without an undershirt, and I don't find it to be an...

Re: sr9c AND Holster Question
The SR9C carries comfortably and conceals well in hybrid-type holsters. I didn't get a Crossbreed due to wait times, but I'm sure they're nice. FOXX Holsters makes a good product at a reasonable price, and ships much more quickly (less than a week both times I ordered from them).

Good guy city PD in Houston banned their officers from enforcing "house rules" that ran contrary to state law: http://blog.chron.com/houstonpolitics/2013/01/off-duty-city-police-replaced-in-gun-show-security-jobs/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; Kudos to HPD.. So ...

Re: Left Handed Holster sugestions
My experience is that most of the reputable holster manufacturers offer left-hand models, but you'll probably have to order online and there may be an extra wait since they're less likely to be stocking items. I've rarely seen anything but cheap generic (non-molded) lefty holsters in stores around h...

Re: "Off Limits" locations for CHL's
There is an app with user generated database. It's called "Posted!"...it's icon is yellow/orange and has a quasi-gunbuster sign on it. it is mae by the same folks that do the "CCW" app that is a quick reference app for your CHL laws. This app is worthless, at least for Texas. I ...

Re: Homeowner shoots man breaking into his shed
The only thing that makes this not quite so clear-cut to me is that 9.41(1)(b) says you can prevent them from "escaping with the property". If the burglar is fleeing without any stolen property, is that covered by 9.41(1)(a) or 9.41(1)(b)? Under section (b), it doesn't seem like it would b...

Re: Flying Question
bringing a printout of those policies also will be more helpful in the case of a misinformed agent rather than just saying you spoke to somebody on the phone who told you so-and-so. Of course :tiphat: That has been suggested many times over.. Always bring both the TSA and airlines policy with you.....

Re: Flying Question
The problem with calling or emailing the airline is that there's no guarantee the person checking you in will follow the procedures exactly the way the person on the phone/email says, or even that the person on the phone/email is providing you the most accurate information. The TSA as well as the ai...

Re: SB299 to Governor
Yeah, CJD, that's exactly what I'm asking. How would 299 affect my intentionally displaying a holstered gun. "§ 9.04. THREATS AS JUSTIFIABLE FORCE. The threat of force is justified when the use of force is justified by this chapter. For purposes of this section, a threat to cause death or seri...

Re: Does your mom know you carry?
I'm curious as to why having one's CHL and possibly carrying a firearm has to be some deep, dark secret? How does that same thought process exist with those that insist on open carry? Doesn't the attitude of "secret society" or "elitist group" tend to reduce the number of folks ...
