I'm thinking of doing the reverse starting September 1. Teach a personal protection style class in the morning. Teach the new short CHL class in the afternoon. I'll keep the CHL class price the same but students who pass the personal protection class get a discount for my CHL class equal to the cost of the PP class. Discount to be valid same day or in the future. I might change the plan after I see how it goes but my class is already cheaper than the DPS fee and I'm not interested in competing with the $50 guys. There's easier ways to make a buck.Charles L. That would violate the statute, unless the instructor told the students they were free to leave after 6 hours, then come back for the range portion. However, to make this work the instructor would have to give the written test after 6 hours. Otherwise, the classroom portion of the course would be greater than 6 hours, i.e. 6 hours plus the time spent on the test.
