For hog hunting I think a red dot would be a great choice. Since its generally at shorter ranges, it will allow quick target acquisition and move from hog to hog quickly. You can also add night vision to help out and many red dot sights have night vision settings. I would look at the aimpoint pro. Its a VERY solid scope and great quality. They run about $400, so they're not too outrageous.
