Ok, maybe I just misunderstood the sign but that's the reason I asked the guy. I did tell him that after reading the sign I took my gun back to the car and locked it up....he didn't say I misunderstood that it wasn't for concealed carry. He also said Mr. Carter had made that decision after the new laws went into effect....plus the sign looked new...
BUT...HEY WHAT DO I KNOW?
Wasn't trying to stir up a stink or anything...was just baffled by the sign.
Thanks for all your replies.

Carter Country-Pasadena
Just had an interesting discussion with the manager at Carter Country in Pasadena. Went in and on the front door they were advertising the next Concealed Handgun Class with the dates. Stepped inside the store and to the left of the entry way was another sign stating that any open carry or guns had to be unloaded, semi-auto's had to have slide locked back, etc. Wish I had taken a picture of the sign.
I asked the lady behind the counter about the sign and she called I assume the manager. I was very polite and asked him if he could help me understand what was going on. I said ya'll sell guns....you teach concealed handgun classes and yet you want us to come in with our guns unloaded with slides locked back which is useless if we would have to protect ourselves so why don't you just put up a 30.6 and 30.7 signs so that we know where you stand. Isn't this a little hypocritical?
The manager was very polite and said Mr. Carter made the decision when the new laws changed and that since they show guns to interested buyers they wouldn't know who was actually looking at their guns and who had their own guns. He said he would mention it to Mr. Carter and walked off. Personally I can't see where the new laws have changed anything that would affect the way they do business as far as safety goes.
Am I wrong to think that this is wrong? I won't be going back in there.
