Mel's is excellent, an original old time burger, but the wait/crowd/noise is just to much to put up with. Goodson's Café on the pkwy. has great burgers! If you're not in the mood for burgers, a bigger than the plate chicken fried steak with the fries piled up in the middle doused with gravy......SpringerFan wrote:Yeah, Mel's can get kinda crazy, especially in peak times. Some of the best chicken-fried-steak and chicken-fried-chicken I have eaten as well. Worth the trouble, imo. Sorry to hear about your Red Robin experience. It's one of the wife's favorites, so I get dragged there a lot. Never any negative experiences.brhalltx wrote:I've never had a burger at Mel's... The last time or two we tried to go there, the line was out the door.SpringerFan wrote:Mel's Country Cafe in Tomball is excellent. Red Robin is pretty good for a chain/franchise type place.
The very-coarse-hair-in-the-iced-tea at Red Robin pretty much ended the trips there. I even have/had an unused $50 gift card for Red Robin...
