Re: Reaching for the wallet

Any ideas out there? Switch the side I place my wallet? Bigger shirts (already at the XL stage)? Am I being to self-conscious?
What kind of shirt is this?

Personally, I carry a Hi-Power OWB with an untucked work shirt as concealment. At first, I had problems with needing to fiddle with the shirt while sitting or whatever to keep the end of my holster from showing. I went to a Dickies store and bought shirts the next size up (went from XL to XXL) and found that their shirts are also considerably longer, proportionally speaking. They do a great job in concealing my pistol, and I'm comfortable with a full range of movement without having to re-adjust.

As far as the wallet goes, I carry mine in my left rear pocket. I also carry a dual spare mag carrier at about 8:00, and was concerned about it showing while getting my wallet when I first started using it. Fortunately, the long nature of my work shirts keeps it concealed even when I get my wallet out. Basically, I just lift up the shirt where my wallet is and retrieve it, while the length of the shirt ensures that it doesn't lift up enough on the left and expose the mag carrier.

Here's a couple of pictures illustrating how I carry. Note that these were before I went to the larger/longer shirts and started carrying a mag carrier. Also, when it's windy or I am engaged in some sort of activity that my shirt is likely to come open enough to expose my gun, I button one of the bottom buttons.

If you're carrying IWB, I'd say a longer shirt will do the trick for you with your wallet on the right. If it's a t-shirt, you might consider going one size up to ensure that you don't print too badly when lifting it up to retrieve your wallet or moving in a way that would cause the shirt to tighten against your body. Once you start carrying, you can go to the store and try it out in the dressing room to see what works best for you. In the meantime, you can still go and try the larger size to see if it looks OK on you in general.
