+1 more on the range. Find a range you can draw and shoot at. I just visited The Lone Star Gun Range (mentioned in the thread here: http://www.texasshooting.com/TexasCHL_F ... php?t=6420) a few days ago. It's the only range anywhere near Austin where you can draw and shoot, so I thought I'd get some practice in. Because of my living arrangements, I was never able to practice drawing with an empty gun, so this was my first opportunity (had my CHL since 05/05/2007). The first time out, I forgot about the safety. I'm glad this wasn't a real-life situation, and it highlights the importance of getting yourself familiar with drawing and firing your weapon.
