I volunteer with a homeless charity. I used to feel guilty sometimes when asked for money, but I have learned that giving cash does more harm than good. If someone is there with their vehicle, I will pump them some gas. They may think they are taking advantage of me, but that's only true if I think it.

However, I am usually approached by someone with no vehicle, and I tell them to [abbreviated profanity deleted].
