Has anyone filed an ORR on this issue?seamusTX wrote:It gets worse. Friendswood and Plano ISD have 30.06 signs on their parking lots, and police have said that they will arrest CHL holders or anyone that they catch with a firearm on their school property. I don't know if the DA would prosecute in either case.

Re: Employer says "NO!" to guns in cars.
School property postings cannot be enforced beyond the statute as they are government entities - and posting on government property is unenforceable. But there is no such restriction for private entities. They can post wherever they want and then everything beyond the sign is off limits. The "premises" definition you are talking about does limit it to the building - and it is a good thing that it does for exactly that school example - but there is no restriction on private entities from making additional things off limits.Cipher wrote:I thought parking lots and sidewalks could not be posted, even at schools.

You can't sign away those rights. You can agree to it as a condition of employment, but if you later refuse the worst that can happen is they fire you. They cannot legally compel you to submit to a search without a proper legal document (search warrant).captkilowatt wrote:... just about every employer requires new employes to sigh away their ability to refuse a warrantless search and to legally carry a firearm.

I doubt it - Dell never had valid 30.06 signs in the decade that I was working there.BigDan wrote:Dell? Just curious. =-]

Re: Employer says "NO!" to guns in cars.
Others have answered your question - and I'm sorry it isn't what you wanted to hear, but I agree with their answers.
So I'll just go with a "Howdy!" And ask if you would allow your employer to search your car without a search warrant. They can't force you to do so, but they could fire you for not allowing it. Simple solution is to park off campus - is that possible?Greybeard wrote:I notice this is your post numero uno. Welcome to the forum.
